  • For Writers

    • yourDictionary.com
      My primary online dictionary. It's got stupid limitations (It's doesn't use soundex and it takes at least two clicks to display the word you want) but it works.
    • Calculator.com
      Every freakin' calculation and conversion you'll ever need, all online.
    • Babel Fish
      Copy and paste some text and translate it into a dozen other languages. Or type in a URL to translate a Web page.

  • Essential Software

    You just shouldn't run a computer without certain software. This is some of the stuff I use. I was a Mac head back when the Mac really mattered. Now I docilely follow the other sheep to the pasture that Bill hath made for me.
    • ZoneAlarm
      If you have a broadband connection you MUST have a firewall. The free version of ZoneAlarm is all many people need.
    • AVG Anti-Virus
      You absolutely must have an anti-virus program. Norton and MacAfee are both good but AVG is free.
